The Nathan Lautermilch Scholarship recognizes the many years of volunteer service and contributions Nathan made to Hopewell Valley Soccer Association and youth soccer players in Hopewell Valley. Nathan was a long serving member on the Board of Directors, dedicating thousands of hours to soccer programming. As the Vice President of Recreational Soccer, Nathan led and organized soccer seasons for youth throughout Hopewell Valley. He also coached in the HVSA Travel program for the successful 2008 Cyclones. In addition to his soccer passion, Nathan was Director of Global Clinical Operations at a multi-national biotechnology organization. This scholarship helps keep Nathan's spirit present as it will be awarded to a student who shares his passion, energy and commitment to community.

The Nathan Lautermilch Memorial Annual Senior Scholarship of $1,000 will be awarded to a graduating senior who best represents the qualities demonstrated by Nathan Lautermilch, a longtime HVSA program volunteer and coach, as well as a scientist, who passed away in 2021. The scholarship may be used to pursue a post-secondary education at a four-year college/university, community college, or vocational school.

Eligible applicants must have played in the Hopewell Valley Soccer Association travel and/or recreational soccer program and be a resident of Hopewell Valley, and have demonstrated an interest in STEM subjects (science, technology, engineering, or math).

Applications will be judged by a HVSA committee with the award based upon the student’s soccer experiences, interest in STEM, commitment to the game, high school academic performance, extra-curricular/community service activities, an essay and recommendation from an adult educator or community leader. The essay should describe how participation in the Hopewell Valley Soccer Association travel and/or recreational program and interest in STEM has been a positive influence on the applicant’s overall development and growth.
