We will continue to monitor all CDC, NJ, and NJ Youth Soccer guidance and will implement any necessary Covid protocols required for our players, referees, coaches, and spectators to remain safe and healthy. We will communicate all Covid protocols via this webpage and email blasts to registered players. Full refunds will be available to any family that does not want to participate with the modifications which we implement. Refer to our current covid protocols here.
Our Spring Program
Our spring season runs from Sunday, April 10th until Sunday, June 12th. Games are Sunday afternoons only. No games will be held on Easter (April 17th) or Memorial Day (May 29th).
Children ages 3 to 18 are eligible to participate and are grouped into the following divisions. Though we use age as of 9/30/21 to assign divisions, our focus on fun and friendship means that our intention is to keep children playing with their classmates. School grades below are used as a guide.
*For our Pre K program, players must be at least 3 years old as of 4/1/22.

Spring Schedule
For your planning purposes, fields listed below are tentative. However, dates/times are generally accurate.
Pre K Division (run by Soccer Shots):
- 2 coed options Sunday 1-1:45 or 2-2:45.
- Sunday, April 10 through Sunday, June 12. No games Easter (April 17) or Memorial Day (May 29).
- All games at Hopewell Elementary.
- No weeknight training sessions.
Division K (Kindergarten)
- 2 coed options, Sunday 12:30-1:45 or 2:00-3:15.
- Sunday, April 10 through Sunday, June 12. No games Easter (April 17) or Memorial Day (May 29).
- All games at Hopewell Elementary.
- No weeknight training sessions.
Division 1 (Grades 1-2)
- Games Sundays 12:30, 1:40, or 2:50 (schedule to be set after teams are formed).
- Sunday, April 10 through Sunday, June 12. No games Easter (April 17) or Memorial Day (May 29).
- All games at Hopewell Elementary.
- A professional led division wide training session will be held once per week on Wednesdays at Independence Park from 5 - 6:15. There will be 8 sessions starting 4/20 until 6/8.
Division 2 (Grades 3-5)
- Games Sundays 12:30-5:30 (schedule to be set after teams are formed).
- Sunday, April 10 through Sunday, June 12. No games Easter (April 17) or Memorial Day (May 29).
- All games at Independence Park near Stony Brook Elementary.
- A professional led division wide training session will be held once per week on Wednesdays at Independence Park. Girls teams will be from 5 - 6:15 and Boys teams will be from 6:15 - 7:30. There will be 8 sessions starting 4/20 until 6/8.
- Team practices in the spring are optional and at the discretion of our volunteer coaches.
Division 3 (Grades 6-8)
- Games Sundays 12:30-5:30 (schedule to be set after teams are formed).
- Sunday, April 10 through Sunday, June 12. No games Easter (April 17) or Memorial Day (May 29).
- All games at Independence Park near Stony Brook Elementary or at Bear Tavern Elementary (TBD).
- A professional led division wide training session will be held once per week on Wednesdays at Independence Park from 6:15 - 7:30. There will be 8 sessions starting 4/20 until 6/8
- Team practices in the spring are optional and at the discretion of our volunteer coaches.
Division 4 (Grades 9-12)
- Girls team plays in conjunction with Mercer County inter-county league teams, times/Dates TBD.
- Boys team based on player interest.
Fees
As a result of covid, the HVSA Board has elected to freeze the registration fees at 2019 levels and forgo the previously planned registration fee increase.
Families experiencing financial hardships may request aid from the JOSHUA RIGEL SCHOLARSHIP FUND during the registration process.

Other Important Season Notes
- Team shirts will be provided to all players.
- There are no playoffs, trophies, or medals for the spring season.
- There are no assessments prior to the spring season. Teams are split by volunteer division coordinators and volunteer coaches based on past soccer experience.
- The schedule includes one weather related make-up date. No refunds or credits are given for other weather related cancellations.
Important Rules and Regulations:
- COVID-19 – we will continue to follow all CDC, NJ State, and NJ Youth Soccer guidelines and update as necessary. Refer to our current covid protocols here.
- Consistent with Youth Soccer directives, head balls are not permitted in HVSA Rec Soccer games or practices.
- Shin guards are mandatory in all divisions.
- Soccer cleats are mandatory in Divisions 2-4.
- Per state of NJ regulations, any child that wears corrective eyeglasses while participating in soccer shall be required to wear protective eyewear that meets the frame standards of the American Society for Testing and Materials (ATSM) F803 and the lens standards of the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Z87.1. Refer to this site for more information.
- No forms of jewelry are allowed on a player with the only exceptions of religious or medical bracelets, which must be properly taped to the player's body. This includes all forms of piercing, which are prohibited regardless of when the piercing occurred.
- All coaches and assistant coaches will be required to undergo criminal background checks with the Hopewell Township Police Department prior to the start of the season.
- The HVSA board has adopted a policy that warrants that all teams be reselected on an annual basis.
